Baby pancakes are the first baby food to use in the baby-led weaning feeding approach. They are soft, hand-sized eggless banana pancakes easy to hold with small hands and made of 3 simple ingredients, safe for infants 6 months old and older or ready to eat solid foods.
A baby-led weaning banana pancake recipe is made of whole food to bring nutrients to your infant. It’s naturally:
- Sugar-free – doesn’t contain added sugar.
- Baking powder-free – baking powder can upset infants under 1-year-old, and it’s unnecessary for babies.

The purpose of baby pancakes is to develop baby sensory skills: taste, touch, and smell. It means that banana pancakes for babies don’t get fluffy. Their purpose is to add nutrient, infant-safe baby-led weaning experience.

Every banana pancake recipe I’ve tried always sticks to the pan, any suggestions as to why? Trying to keep it egg free as baby is allergic
The sugar in bananas tends to caramelize quickly if the pan isn’t oiled enough or if it’s not a non-stick one.
Hi, what can we sub with banana (as bubs is allergic)? Thanks!
You can use pumpkin puree, but the best is to make my pumpkin puree pancakes
Hi, if I storage them in the fridge, should I warm them up in the oven before serving? Thanks
That’s up to you, but yes, I like to rewarm them. I’d typically put them in the toaster.
I’m wanting to do these as a sheet pan pancake and bake. Do you think this would work? If so, what settings would you recommend?
It might, but I’ve never tried.
These are delicious and a favorite in our house for our daughter with an egg and dairy allergy! They are great to batch cook and keep on hand in the freezer for an easy breakfast!
Has anyone tried cooking them in the oven on a sheet pan? I’m wondering if that would work for a bigger batch to save a little time
Hi Carine
Thanks for this.
May i ask, why wont it work with almond flour?
Thanks
Almond flour has no starch or gluten to bind liquid, you need a liquid binder like eggs to work only with almond flour in this recipe. But since I don’t use eggs in my recipes, I can’t tell how much you need.
Can you sub all purpose flour for baby oatmeal?
I don’t think they will form up with baby oatmeal!
Thanks for the recipe, my baby loves these pancakes! Lots of baby recipes have eggs and dairy so it’s hard sometimes to find something for my baby to eat. I use millet flour and it works great, and have made them with soy yogurt when I ran out of milk and it helped make them fluffy. Thanks a lot!
Hi! How long can you freeze the pancakes?
You can freeze pancakes up zip bags for up to 1 month
